Epson PictureMate Show PM 300 is a 2 – in – 1 product, a digital frame and a compact photo printer. It easy to set up and prints out quality photos. It is intended basically as a full – time home accessory use. It is an expensive photo printer but it displays a WVGA 7-inch color LCD. It includes an internal memory photo storage, fast printing speed and low print photo cost. It is quite heavy compared to other snapshot printers.

Epson PictureMate Show PM 300 has a 7 – inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) LCD screen with a dozen slide show formats that allows you to integrate a clock, calendar, simple animation and other effects you wish to add.

PictureMate Show features include a rear 20 – sheet input and front output tray, 2 media slots and a single four color – ink cartridge. It is a bit heavy at 7.1 pounds making it a non – portable printer though you can still carry it around but lacks the battery option and is operated via a remote control. It also features a 270 MB internal memory that allows you to store hundreds of photos to show and print.

Epson PictureMate Show PM 300 is easy to set up. Slide in the single ink cartridge, open the top cover, load paper and plug it in the power cord and you’re ready to print. You can print directly from a memory card, PictBridge, camera, USB memory key or with the printer’s own memory. If you want to print from your computer you need to run the automated installation from the disc and connect using a USB cable. It works well with Windows and Mac as well.

In spite of its few photo editing features, the Show includes all the essentials for photo editing like cropping, printing from color in sepia and black and white, red – eye removal option and goes with a default photo fix feature as well.

The Show does not allow you to print photos at random in order to have more flexibility when working on your photos you need to install the printer on your PC or Mac to have more options in choosing which photo you want to print.

The Show has fast speed at 1.4 ppm and produces high quality photos that are water and scratch resistant that last longer. Consumables are inexpensive based on the number, speed and quality of photos produced. One of the disadvantages of the Show is its limited layout options. It can only print 4 x 6 inch photos compared to other snapshot printers of its league.

The Show is a two product in one that is very expensive. It can only be operated via remote control and if you lose the remote you need to buy a replacement from Epson.

Overall, the PictureMate Show is a quality photo printer that provides ease of use. It has its advantages and disadvantages but considering its relatively high price it does not really make up for the quality of the printer in spite of its low running costs. If the larger LCD, one of the Show basic features compensates for the price is not even enough to make up for it. It has its own flaws as well. But if you’re looking for one photo quality printer with a faster speed Epson PictureMate Show PM 300 is one good choice.
