The Epson Artisan 800 All-in-One Printer

The Epson Artisan 800 all-in-one printer is truly a wonderful piece of equipment. It is a scanner, printer, copier and a fax machine all at the same time. The elegant design makes it worthy to be placed on any computer table or any desk. The sleek black, design plus the well rounded corners make it appear as if it is a work of art. The overall size is also some thing to take into consideration. The height of the Epson Artisan 800 all-in-one printer is 7.8 inches, measures 18.4 inches wide and has a depth of 15.2 inches. It is rather heavy though at 23.8 pounds. Considering all that it can do, it really does not matter how big or how heavy it is.

Now, we will go on to the important features of the printer. The LCD screen has hinges on its sides so you can adjust to have a better view of it. I think that the LCD is really space conserving. The only other buttons placed separately are the power and CD eject button. This way all your navigation will be managed through the LCD screen.

The Epson Artisan 800 has memory card slots, and a PictBridge port on the same side as the LCD screen. As mentioned earlier there is a provision for inserting a CD on to the Epson Artisan 800. It can be used both ways as a CD reader and also to print colored labels on the CD, provided that the CD is the white blank labeled type.

The paper tray is nice but not close to being perfect. It can hold up to 120 sheets of paper in the main tray. I can say that the tray design is not really well made as the plastic that makes up the trays and compartments feel very flimsy and they’ll give you the feel that you may break them once you make a wrong move.

The reason is the sliders that allow paper selection is a bit hard to manipulate. It tends to move freely and needs a specific position to set the paper. If you did not get the setting correctly, there is a big chance that the device will jam.

The software is prone to errors, although the troubleshooting guidelines say that this may be a driver error, and a driver update would fix it. This may be a hassle for those who need their printer to be at its best all the time.

It can print highly detailed color prints in no time. The color prints are almost at par of that of a photo lab. If the colored prints come out really quick and at high quality, then the black and white prints are surely not a problem.

Now let us consider the advantages and disadvantage:

The Epson Artisan 800 All-in-One Printer Advantages

1. It has good navigation controls thanks to its 3.5 inch LCD touch screen.

2. It can be used as a stand alone device that does not need to be connected to a computer to function.

3. The printing speed is exceptional and I can say it is one of the fastest printers in the market.

The Epson Artisan 800 All-in-One Printer Disadvantages

1. The photo paper tray rests on top of the main tray, but not in a very secure manner. It would take some time before someone using this Epson all in one printer becomes adept in using the paper tray efficiently.

2. The software has a tendency to give errors and would require your device to be powered down and restart.

Overall, I can say this is one of the best printers around; that is, if you can manage the paper tray properly without breaking it, and getting the software to run smoothly. With its elegant sleek design, the versatile LCD screen and built in photo manipulation tools and other great features, surely makes Epson Artisan 800 All-in-One Printer one of the best all in one printers in the market today.
